Connect action with meaning
Before colouring a diya or decorating a thali, explain one simple idea: light can represent clarity, a rakhi can represent care, and Ganesha can remind us to begin thoughtfully.
Add festival vocabulary
Teach three to five words children will hear during the celebration. Familiar words help them participate confidently.
Finish with reflection
Ask what value the child noticed—gratitude, courage, togetherness, wisdom or kindness. The conversation makes the activity memorable.
